Google gains 600,000 Data Scientists

Google gains access to 600,000 data scientists.

With its purchase of predictive modeling and machine learning competitions platform Kaggle, Google has effectively acquired access to around 600,000 Data Scientists, in a market that is increasingly talent-strapped.

In what looks a smart-money move, Google has made a deal that it says will help to democratize AI.

Antony Goldbloom, Kaggle CEO, had this to say of the deal; " The Kaggle team will remain together and will continue Kaggle as a distinct brand within Google Cloud. We will continue to grow our competitions and open data platforms, and we will remain open to all data scientists, companies, techniques and technologies. Kaggle Kernels will continue to support a diverse ecosystem of machine learning libraries and packages supported by Google as well as those outside of Google’s toolkit."
