About the role


Delivering class leading data architecture and thought leadership input into internal projects and initiatives you will be responsible for information analysis and data solution designs to support GBI projects with their data architecture requirements.

You will be responsible for both tactical and strategic developments across multiple stakeholders, tool sets and data sources. You may be required to work in both agile and waterfall delivery methodologies and on several projects simultaneously.


Understanding how to use data and information technology to drive tangible business value, you will apply proven experience in fulfilling a wide range of enterprise data and information architecture activities.


Gaining an understanding of the data warehouse and data model at Royal Mail Group, you will Influence and work alongside architects, technical colleagues and developers on data integration and BI related architectural activity to help establish robust practices.


Working with Technology and 3rd parties, you will ensure the data warehouse architecture is appropriate for BI delivery and work to improve efficiency, scalability and stability of the data environment


Use of interpersonal skills will be key as you will be required to collaborate with a number of internal and external stakeholders.


About You


Having a good understanding of the relationship between data and information models to the business requirements, you will evaluate the technical architecture and have proven experience  in using and implementing a range of data management techniques within a Teradata or Oracle enviroment.

You will have a strong track record of data modelling and architecture and have extensive experience of developing information and data strategies and frameworks, ideally in a logistics based environment.


You will naturally have a high level of numeracy and statistical skill and an avid attention to detail. You will have worked with well established structured databases and open source data technologies such as Terradata and Hadoop and have a wealth of experience in a data development environment.


Having excellent interpersonal skills you will have a proactive and flexible attitude to work. You will also have great communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to present ideas and outputs in an articulate and non-technical manner to senior stakeholders and project based colleagues.


This is a very involved role with the potential for exposure to some of the organisations most high profile programmes.


This role can be based in either London or Chesterfield
