Our Data Analysts at Autotrader are a bright bunch! They take volumes of data and analyse it to provide greater insight into our audiences. They love thinking creatively and using data in different ways to uncover new and innovative ways of making the advertising products we provide to our customers even better at reaching their audience. It’s our aim to be the most admired digital company in the UK so we continually review and improve our digital advertising products and develop new ones to stay ahead of the market. Data is absolutely key to our success as it creates opportunities for our sales and product squads and allows them to make informed decisions. It also enables decisions to be made regarding our strategic direction so you can see how important data science is to us.

Your focus will be to provide insightful and recommendation based analytics by tracking, structuring and analysing large amounts of complex data. Using statistical models, data mining techniques and web/mobile analytics solutions you will gain insight into how our audiences interact with our advertising products. You will work on audience segmentation, create predictive modelling and develop a strong understanding of the consumer journey.

We would love to speak to candidates currently employed in a data analyst roles, with significant experience of working with big data in innovative commercial environments. You should have extensive knowledge of web analytics solutions from the fundamentals to the advance feature capabilities, with experience in adobe analytics or GA being a plus.

We are particularly interested in candidates with a good understanding of the fundamentals of machine learning and with experience of extracting, querying and analysing data at scale using tools such as Spark, Big Query, and SPSS. You should have a good knowledge of programming in languages such as R, SQL, and Javascript and experience working with large, real world data sets. Additionally experience with any Data Management Platforms from implementation to setup will be a plus.

You will have experience with data visualisations tools such as Qlikview, R, Shiny or Tableau or similar BI tools. You will understand supervised/unsupervised techniques of machine learning.

You will have familiarity with tag management solutions to facilitate simple tag implementation to reasonably advance implementations with/ or without tag management vendor support.

Familiarity with google cloud tools such as datalabs, and automating the process within the environment would be useful.

However, it’s not just about the technical skills, you will demonstrate strong commercial awareness and you’ll also be working with non-technical teams so it’s key that you’re able to communicate technical findings in a clear and simple way.
