Publishing Data Scientist | London

We are looking for a talented and creative Data Scientist interested in the fast growing Mobile Game Publishing business unit at King. You’ll have a proven ability to apply your skills, be it technical, behavioural or economic, in order to generate value.

 

Your role within our Kingdom

You will be part of the community of 100+ business intelligence & analytics experts at King, while working on a daily basis in smaller teams of <10 people, including other data scientists, focused on our Publishing efforts. You will:

Identify potential business opportunities within King’s Publishing efforts and find approaches to capture those opportunities
Translate business needs to technical requirements and AB-tests, and work with development teams to ensure correct implementation, specifically including correctly tracking the right information to allow easy, precise analysis of the impact
Develop data models and ETL to support applications and reporting
Ensure data and reporting consistency
Build a data platform and tools to support real time decision making and advanced analytics
Develop an analysis strategy and perform analysis of complex scenarios and AB-tests, both systematically and on a one-off basis
Carefully check, debug, and problem solve issues to ensure you deliver accurate and clear analysis and reports, quickly, even when confronted by subtle data complications
Provide an analytics perspective to discussions and prioritisation within your team, so that the overall team selects the right ideas to work on

There is plenty of scope at King for you to learn from your colleagues in those areas where you have less experience, and to share your own skills where you are stronger.

 

Specific factors that are helpful to excel in this role include

Experience with massive data sets and tools to deal with them (Hadoop/Hive/Impala etc)
Experience in experimental design
Software engineering skills in Java and other languages (beyond R, Python which we use most frequently)
Fluency in SQL
Experience in the games industry or similarly sophisticated customer-facing digital businesses
Ability to present findings and ideas in a clear manner
Having a strong ability to automate tasks
Structured and analytical thinking
Being a team player who likes to discuss solutions and ideas together with developers and analytics engineers

 

Sweet bonus skills

The following skills would be highly desirable for the role:Skills with standard reporting tools such as Looker/Tableau/etc
Comfortable at a Linux command prompt
Experience working facing external organisationsDegree in mathematics, statistics, economics or computer science and the ability to apply those skills practically to generate business value
