The purpose of this role is to take ownership and lead in the design, delivery and ongoing maintenance of technology environments that meets and/or exceeds requirements as part of an exciting and critical programme of work.
To work with IT Delivery and Support teams to ensure new products and technologies are integrated/configured/optimised in line with IT architectural principles, policies and best practice relating to new and existing environments within the Admiral Technology estate. You will be working with all roles within IT to ensure this occurs in a controlled and timely manner.
In addition to this you will also proactively manage and address any risk issues relating to your assigned duties. You will be expected to complete your duties whilst conforming to any project timelines or service level agreements that are in place.
Other duties include:
Design, configure and maintain enterprise technology environments.
Recommending & enforcing coding standards for best practise.
Provide timely and accurate estimates for assigned tasks.
Research new technologies and function as a subject matter expert.
Diligently share knowledge with others through teaching and/or mentoring.
Act as a point of technical referral or provide 3rd Line Technical Support, where appropriate.
Maintain a good working relationship with customers and technical partners including Project teams.
Produce or contribute to detailed documentation for existing or new configurations.
Provide project briefings for Management.

Experience and Qualifications Required
Platforms e.g. x86-64, Windows, Linux (Redhat, CentOS), AIX, VMWare, OS security.
Informatica, SAS, Microstrategy, SVN, Erwin, Visio.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum.
Familiarity with a Support Environment.
Experience of Confluence & JIRA.
Practical experience using Oracle 11g 12g:
Practical experience using Teradata:
Workload management and throttling using TASM, physical node behaviour, and amp distribution, session management, Viewpoint
Indexing strategy (PIs, NUPIs, partitioning etc.)
Physical design and system configuration best practises
Understand TPT and the use cases for each of the following utilities: Mload, FastLoad, Multiload, Tpump
User and Database hierarchies and security
Experience using TARA GUI & NetBackup
Experience working on a Teradata appliance system
Experience coordinating Teradata RDBMS & TTU upgrades
Experience in Teradata Viewpoint administration
A deep and practical level of experience in the following DBA areas:
Solid database design and SQL experience
Working with logical and physical data models
Maintaining and scheduling backup and archiving (BAR) processes
Designing and implementing indexing, archiving and partitioning strategies
Updating statistics and performance optimisation of long running queries
Operational maintenance e.g. patching and failovers
Implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the corporate data warehouse
Performance optimisation of design and database jobs
Understanding of Dimensional Model
Linux SLES 11 operating system knowledge
Professional experience working on a multi-terabyte, high volume enterprise data warehouse implementation.
Familiarity with data warehousing and Business Intelligence concepts such as slowly changing dimensions, star schema, OLAP and ETL/ELT.
Able to work with structured frameworks, methodologies and best practices.
