Defence Business Services (DBS) is the organisation that delivers corporate HR, payroll, finance, vetting and information services across the MOD. The Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting (PB&F) Team is part of the Defence Business Services Change Delivery Service (DBS CDS) reporting to the DBS Chief Information Officer (CIO). PB&F has been identified as an area for growth and is looking to fill two posts within the PB&F team:
• Cognos Business Intelligence (BI) Reporting development
• Data Warehousing development
PB&F is a bespoke system comprised of a number of applications to support In-Year Management (IYM) and the Annual Budgeting Cycle (ABC). PB&F is made up of 15 Contributor Applications, a data warehouse and approximately 200 Cognos BI reports, providing services for approx. 1600 contributor and 2000 BI users.
Ideally you will have experience in developing or testing financial systems using Cognos Enterprise Planning, Data Warehouse, or Cognos BI software or experience in the creation and delivery of IT Systems, working with a number of business areas in a complex project driven work environment.
The main responsibilities and objectives of the Senior Developers is to:
• Develop, build, configure, document and unit test solutions from low level designs and ensure these meet the required quality and performance standards
• Execute unit testing / quality reviews throughout the build phase to ensure that the solution meets the agreed functional specifications
• Design, develop, test, correct, and document simple and moderately complex programs and program modifications from supplied specifications using the agreed standards and tools to achieve well engineered results
• Review supplied specifications and ensure that solutions meet requirements outlined in the design documentation
• Provide day to day application maintenance and support services to both system users and service delivery functions
