The successful candidate will support the CPS Change Management function, reporting to the GBI (Global Business Intelligence) Programme Manager, and will be responsible for the end to end delivery of a specific stream of work within the Agile programme. On a day to day basis, the candidate will face off to operations and HTS (IT) stakeholders and SMEs, and will be responsible for ensuring that the stream of work is planned and managed in line with the HSBC project delivery framework.

They will also be responsible for gathering detailed business requirements and ensuring they are translated in to robust and sustainable technical solutions that adhere to HSBC policies and standards.

Following handover to the development teams, the candidate will be responsible for supporting and tracking the solutions through build, testing and implementation.

Role Context

The Cross Product Services (CPS) Global Business Intelligence (GBI) team are responsible for providing accurate, reliable and timely information across 4C KRIs (Control, Cost, Client, Capacity) and demonstrate interdependencies with KPIs

Following the completion of a recent strategic review, the GBI function is undergoing a transformation and realisation of this strategic vision is now underway. This includes the development of a governance and control framework, and the implementation of a global post trade data warehouse, dashboard and reporting solution.  Current streams of work include automation of manual reporting, improved levels of front office reporting and consolidating risk and control reporting.



Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements)

The candidate will be required to conform to, and support the ongoing enhancement of, all HSBC policies and standards.

Technical Skill Requirements

The candidate will be responsible for specific streams of work within the GBI Programme and will support the programme manager by providing appropriate leadership, direction and stakeholder management and will require experience in working as BA within Agile environment (ie daily scrums, sprint planning etc)

Project Management

  • Delivery: Project delivery through all phases of the project lifecycle
  • Stakeholder Management: Building strong relationships with all stakeholders and contributors and ensuring that they are appropriately engaged and are actively supporting the project
  • Governance: Chair work stream project working group meetings and provide input in to the programme steering committee and disseminate direction
  • Risk Management: Ensure that all risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies are appropriately logged, managed and escalated
  • Communication: Ensure that timely, accurate and appropriate communications are delivered to relevant stakeholders
  • Methodology: Ensure compliance with all PMO standards, tools and processes
  • Planning: Produce and maintain detailed project plans
  • Strategy:   Ensure that all project deliverables align to group level directives
  • Processes Improvement: Proactively support continuous improvement of HSBC & CPS Change Management methodologies and tools

Business Analysis

  • Requirements: Responsible for all aspects of Business Analysis for their assigned work stream.
  • Work with all stakeholders to determine detailed scope and approach
  • Creation of robust and accurate Business Requirement Documentation
  • Creation of business process flows and procedures
  • Identification and use of business scenarios / use cases
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Solution Definition: Responsible for working with IT and/or Operations to define robust technical and/or process driven solutions.
  • Testing: Responsible for UAT preparation and execution and supporting HTS (IT) during System Testing and SIT.
  • Training: Responsible for producing and delivering training
  • Implementation: Responsible for business implementation and post implementation support until project closedown.


 Educational Requirements

  • Degree level educated (not essential)

  • Strong communication skills: written, spoken, workshops, presentations
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability of organisational planning and problem solving
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with many competing and changing priorities

 Experience – Essential

  • Relevant Business/Technical Analysis experience within Global Banking and Markets Operations
  • Able to evidence business knowledge revolving around the trade lifecycle across products
  • Agile project methodology
  • Strong understanding of cross asset post trade risk, performance and cost metric identification, definition and presentation
  • Preferable experience within Management Information / Business Intelligence
  • Expert in clarifying, defining and writing requirements and solution documents for IT teams to develop from
  • Expert in business process analysis/ reengineering including GAP analysis (As-is/ To-be)
  • Ability to bring analytical rigour and structure and effective solutions
  • Experienced in delivering within global transformational programmes in a Global Banking & Markets context
  • Highly experienced in dealing with senior and executive sponsors and rationalising cross business priorities



Experience – Desirable, not essential

  • Familiar with business intelligence presentation tools e.g. Qlikview and Cognos
  • Understanding of development and implementation activities, tools and concepts
  • Understanding of architectural concepts


Tools / Technologies:

  • MS Office tools (inc proficient level of excel)
  • Jira or Clarity (for project reporting)
  • MS Visio (for process modelling)
