YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

 


• Assessing, gathering and defining Business Requirements, driving use cases and proof of concepts via data simulation and/or information analysis tools
• Performing Data Analysis of Business Requirements including mapping documents and source-target data mappings
• Translate Business Requirements into Technical Requirements and Specifications and have the ability to understand the impact of these Requirements on the Business
• Delivering Technical Specifications which are aligned to creating sustainable models within the  Enterprise Data Warehouse and Information Analytics solutions
• Designing logical data models within the Enterprise Data Warehouse, including data marts and cube constructs
• Creating BI technology solutions that require development to be viable, such as business applications, LOB applications, developed applications and application integration
• Providing architectural concept support to aid the building of BI solutions which meet business and operational requirements such as scalability, maintainability, security, reliability, extensibility, flexibility, availability and manageability
• Supporting key design decisions to establish dimensional models and analysis frameworks
• Supporting the assessment and evaluation of emerging technologies and integration options with the incumbent BI tool set, identifying business/IT/operational differentiators
• Supplying design, data warehouse and reporting development time and cost estimate inputs when required
• Supporting 3rd party liaison for the assessment and selection of data warehouse & integration solutions

 

WHAT YOU DO:

 


Business Strategy & Planning:    

 

• Recognises potential strategic application of IT, and initiates investigation and development of innovative methods of exploiting IT assets, to the benefit of the organisation
• Leads the creation and review of a systems capability strategy which meets the strategic requirements of the business
• Uses consistent processes for identifying and quantifying potential risk events
• Co-ordinates the development of countermeasures and contingency plans
• Contributes to strategy formation by providing in-depth analysis


Technical Strategy & Planning:

 

   •Leads the development of architectures for complex systems, ensuring consistency with specified requirements
• Manages design, policies and standards, to maintain a stable, viable architecture and ensure consistency of design across projects within programmes
 

Systems Development:

 

• Selects and uses appropriate design and programming standards, methods and tools, consistent with agreed architecture
• Evaluates and undertakes impact analysis on major design options
• Specifies and designs large / complex systems
• Reviews others' systems designs to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources and integration of multiple systems
• Designs, codes, tests, corrects and documents large and/or complex programs and program modifications from supplied specifications using agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well engineered result. Takes part in reviews of own work and leads reviews of colleagues' work


Installation & Integration:    

 

• Designs and builds integration components and interfaces
• Leads a team, providing expert technical knowledge in the systems testing of platform-specific versions of the software products, on varying platforms
• Provides guidance to support, systems testing and quality assurance functions to assist in improving procedures
• Develops and implements quality plans and method statements. Monitors the effectiveness of installations., ensures appropriate recommendations for change are made


Supplier Management & Commercial:    

 

• Evaluates and selects suppliers based on the specification and evaluation criteria

 

YOU WILL HAVE:

 

• A degree in IT/Maths/Science (desirable)
• Data Warehouse or BI related certification, such as TDWI (desirable)
• Experience developing and maintaining Enterprise Database solutions
• Experience in a Data Warehouse/BI technical team or equivalent
• Awareness/Use of Business Intelligence toolsets
• Database/Data Warehouse design and modelling experience
• Capable of building data prototypes
• Ability and experience on the definition of use cases and/or simulations
• Previous experience of  using and creating Data Warehouse Solutions
• Understanding of BI applications and visualisation
• Broad understanding of emerging technologies within the BI space (desirable)
• Experience creating accurate design and development estimates (desirable)
