JOB SUMMARY

As part of the wider EMEA Services team, the Business Intelligence Manager will be responsible for leading a team that provides a reporting and analysis service to the wider Services portfolio. This role will be responsible for the successful change of the team’s focus, priorities, culture, and positioning the team to becoming the central source for all reporting and analysis for key services management and senior management throughout the company. This role will also have a high level of interaction with the client, ensuring our contractual obligations are successfully delivered.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May be required to perform additional duties):

Lead and manage the Business Intelligence Team, providing direction to direct reports and other cross functional personnel
Lead designated projects or assignments and actively manage Business Intelligence priorities
Coach and develop team members with a focus on continual professional development and process improvement
Foster team initiative to interrogate and integrate all possible sources of data to uncover business opportunities
Actively pursue, engage and demonstrate continuous improvement initiatives within the Business Intelligence Team
Responsible for reviewing and, where required, improving processes and documentation
Responsible for ensuring that all client and internal reporting is completed accurately and on time
Provide monthly analysis and presentation support for Business Analysis ad-hoc tasks
Development and maintenance of dashboards and other internal department metrics. Develop and perform to a KPI regime
Manage the TfL dispensation process  - reducing iterations with the client
Analyse data in order to propose and implement improvements to service performance
Support the Global Business Analytics function to derive norms and data to drive service improvement
Automation of all manual processes where possible, creating re-usable templates and calculation models
Assessment of requirements and implementation of new toolsets
Understand all backlog contracts, for knowledge of in scope vs out of scope delivery
Support the design and implementation of a data warehouse, including understanding all areas of data creation and potential integration
Support the design for self-service capability – toolsets and facilitation training
Develop and present business cases as and when required
Promote positive and active communication between Business Intelligence and Engineering to reduce ETL efforts
Consult with functional unit management and personnel to identify, define and document business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements, and levels of systems access
Research and prepare statistical reports using data from service systems and external data sources. Consolidate information into cohesive and understandable correspondence or other written form for use in management decision-making
Support tendering activity associated with Business Intelligence efforts

Key Relationships

·Establish strong working relationships with the wider operations and engineering teams to understand issues, constraints, challenges and opportunities

·Build on existing and develop new relationships within the TfL CE and Surface Transport community

·Build on existing and develop new relationships within the industry. This will include attendance and potentially presentations at industry conferences, interest groups and so forth

·Establish and maintain strong relationships with the Customer Service Management Team, understanding commitments, targets and drivers and helping support these

KEY REQUIREMENTS (Skills, knowledge, qualifications and experience)

Qualifications

Essential:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent within a relevant field (I.e. Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science)

Desirable:

Master’s degree or equivalent within a relevant field

Skills/Experience/Knowledge

Essential:

Established Data platform and/or Analytics management experience
Established supervisory or management experience
Demonstrated experience in leading change in organization structures
Experience in successful implementation of data warehousing and analytics capabilities
Working knowledge of best practice data management, Business Intelligence, business process analysis.
Strong experience with data visualization tools such as Qlik and Power BI
Strong data analysis skills with an ability to understand complex business processes
Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities where analytics can provide significant value 
Experienced TSQL/PLSQL, R and/or Python
Process mapping, service management, project management and bid delivery
Service and operations cost estimating and modeling
SLA and KPI structuring and benchmarking

Desirable:

Experience in Microsoft Azure (cloud), including a focus on ML
Experience and/or understanding of the Microsoft Business Intelligence stack
Experience with Oracle environment
Experience in transport industry data
Cross team project management
