INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe Business, is one of the largest businesses in INEOS, with four of Europe’s most highly integrated and differentiated crackers, based in France, Germany, Norway and the UK. We are Europe's largest olefin producer with four of Europe’s most highly integrated and differentiated crackers, based in France, Germany, Norway and the UK. We produce 5.5 million tonnes per annum of olefins and aromatics, and 3 million tonnes of polyolefins.
Context for role
The role reports to the BI Team Lead, within the ERP Team that works closely and in alignment with the Business to support and develop solutions that significantly contribute to the Business Strategy and goals.
Business Intelligence is a key contributor to the Business success, by providing visibility of key metrics on Business performance, identifying areas of improvement in all Functional Areas, and facilitating the decision making process.
The successful candidate will be engaging directly with the “customer” and have the opportunity to work on full life cycle projects.
Principle Accountabilities of the role:
the main duties and responsibilities, include:
Deliver new reports and system improvements.
Assist in the preparation and documentation of program requirements and specifications.
Write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.
Run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
Administer critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas.
Consider how to increase connectivity between business systems, build automated workflows and data checks to constantly improve the smooth running, data integrity and accurate reporting of business.
Generate statistics and prepare and write reports for management and/or team members on the status of the programming process.
Assist in the development and maintenance of user manuals and guidelines.
Contribute to integration of 3rd party data which are bought for the business.
Contribute to the effective Data Governance of business data. This includes data quality, data management and data policies.
Constant monitoring of users’ issues raised,
Timely solutions of incidents and follow up to closure to achieve user satisfaction.
Coach / train Key Users to establish good practices across the user base on a common set of system processes.
Monitor the BI systems as required for smooth operation and optimal performance, identify any areas of further automation.
Level of Education & Experience
University Degree in Computer Science or Computing Engineering, or equivalent
3 – 5 years min experience in Qlik Applications
Track record of participation in significant Qlik Projects.
Experience with Qlikview NPrinting.
Experience with Qlikview Management Console and Publisher
Successful full life-cycle implementation of Qlik preferred.
Experience working on controlled projects (Prince 2 / Agile) preferred.
SAP Process modules exposure preferred.
Strong SQL scripting and Data Modelling.
Able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of data models, data architecture and data mining.
Strong ETL knowledge, including 3 tier approach and understanding of creating delta load programs.
Strong expression design including set analysis.
Able to demonstrate sound understanding of schema optimisation (eg: Star/Snowflake Schema).
Able to demonstrate sound understanding of front end User Interface optimisation (eg: underperforming user objects)
Understanding of basic windows server administration.
Knowledge of SQL Server/Oracle TSQL/PLSQL an advantage..
Business Processes understanding an advantage.
Detailed understanding of SAP functional modules a distinct advantage.
Knowledge of relevant industry practices and processes.
Able to demonstrate sound understanding of Change Control procedures.
Highly developed numerical and analytical skills.
Strong networking and influencing skills with proven ability to work with users at all levels of business.
Excellent communication skills – verbal and written (fluency in written and spoken English required, plus another major European language is preferred).
Customer driven focus with a track record of strong service delivery
Self-starter, with strong team-working and interpersonal skills and ability to share expertise with and learn from others.
Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
