About the role


We are currently looking for BI Data Analyst to fill a permanent position in the BI & Reporting team. The purpose of the role is making it possible for the organisation to get the most out of the data in terms of reporting, statistics and forming the basis of the decision making and analytical processes. 

The BI department is currently in a development stage where we are expanding our reporting capabilities to add data warehouse solutions. You will be involved in a project to add Big Data reporting solutions to our current portfolio of reports mainly based on Oracle, Apex and Qliksense. The successful candidate would be stepping in as the expert within Big Data Reporting and be driving the driving force in that transition. Therefore we are looking for an experienced developer who will be gathering requirements, proposing solutions and mentoring the team in this transformation.


What will you be doing?


  • Advanced Oracle SQL writing and optimization
  • Create and maintain PL/SQL packages
  • Build data pipelines between Oracle and Big Data systems
  • Performance optimization in Oracle and Big Data
  • Report requirement gathering
  • Develop new reports and maintain current reports
  • Propose improvements
  • Data investigations and problem solving
  • Mentor other team members and act as the expert advisor within Big Data reporting
  • Ensure reports are accurate, timely & meet stakeholders requirements
  • Advocate the best practices (testing, documentation & development)
  • Be proactive with stakeholder communication and meet their reporting requirement


What have you done?


  • Thorough understanding of Data Warehouse Concepts 
  • Extensive experience in working with Oracle databases (11g and above) as a developer/analyst
  • Proficient with Python and Scala and/or Java
  • Enterprise experience with Big Data
  • It’s essential to have experience of Kafka, Spark, Sqoop and Hive
  • Experience with data streaming and with dealing with large data volumes
  • Experience with setting up dashboards and reports for business end users
  • Experience with Storm, HBase and Flume is beneficial
